NEWS TO SHARE WITH YOU!!

Sorry, I have been so busy with classes, hostess clubs and such that I have not been able to post much lately.  But the most important news I have to share with all of you has nothing to do with stamping, but alot to do with my life. Well mainly my husbands career!!

My husband, Jim,  is in the Navy.  He enlisted 32 years ago and 9 years into his service he was picked up as LDO.  Well for those military spouses, you know that that is a big deal.  He has worked is way up the rank and as of this week we found out that he made CAPTAIN!!  This is a great accomplishment!!I am so proud of him!!!

Jim is home this week and we have celebrated his promotion and my son's birthday.  Today, my first born is 21 years old!!   Happy Birthday Robert!!!

Hope to get back to Stamping soon and to have some new post to share with all you!!

MATCHBOOK TREAT

This was a little match book treat that I made and gave to my stamping friends.  It is very simple to make.  I used a 4 3/4 x 1 1/2 piece of red cardstock.  I scored it at 1/2 inch on one side bent it up.  Then I put a individually wrapped lifesaver stapled inside on the bent up side??  Clear as mud??  Then I just flipped it closed tucked it in the stapled part.  Put a piece of DSP to cover the staple and decorated it.

Here is the inside to maybe give you a better idea
on how to make it.

You can easily make this for any holiday.  Quick and EASY!!!

EASTER BOX

This is a cute Easter box that we made at the hostess club on Saturday.  It is using a 2 top notes for top and bottom of box.  The inside (box) is a 9x6 piece of Pretty in Pink Cardstock.  It is scored at 1" on ALL sides.  Then on the 9" side you score at 4 & 5 inches.

Here is the inside of the box.

You could put a nice little treat inside!!

The bunny...I just think he is adorable and different from other bunnies.  I did find him while searching for punched bunnies, but I don't remember where I found him.  He is made from the 1 3/4" circle punch, 1" circle punch for back legs, 1/2 circle punch for front legs, small ovals for ears and his face is just drawn on with markers.

Lorrie's Card

This is the card that Lorrie Reid made for our shoebox swap.  I then Cased it and made it for my hostess club this Saturday.  Someone was asking me how to make the flower that was not in the hostess club, so I posted it on m Facebook and I will post it here.  I took several pictures because I don't know how to even begin making video tutorials.  So, sorry for all the pictures, but maybe the pictures will be better than me just trying to "tell" you how to do it.

Start with these circles. Now you can use fewer or more, bigger and smaller circles, but these worked great for this card.  If you click on the picture you should be able to see the amount and which circle punch to use.

Next, put them together starting from largest to smallest.  The smallest is on top.  I altered the colors just so you can see the different circle.  Usually I use the same side of DSP for the whole flower.

Next, Start to crumble each circle.  Now some tutorials may say to crumble first and then put them in order add the brad and crumble the circles again, but I just figured do it this way and it's one less step.  Now, I liked crumbling the circles, but some of my customers said it was hard or difficult.

Ok, so now each layer is going to get crumbled...I think you get the idea.  I don't need to post each step..right??  Do this to all the layers.

This is what the last one looks like. Sorry for the blurry picture.  I guess my hand shook.  Anyway, I think you get the idea.

Lastly, you get the circles and begin to open them just a little.  You can even crumble them more if you don't like the look or want them more worn looking.   I was happy with this one.  And that is it!!  Hope this was helpful for you.  I'm sure there are video tutorials out there and maybe even better pictures of what I did, but this is my version and I hope it helps you in making your own paper flowers.  Thanks for looking.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!

Here's a little heart mouse for Valentine's Day!!  This is a little  mouse I made out of a Hershey Heart candy.  Isn't it cute??  I just used the Heart to Heart punch for the heart on the face in pretty in pink and then punched it again in Going Grey and trimmed the ears.  I also used the double circle punch(retired) for the eyes and nose.

This was Anna's card that she made for the shoebox swap.  It had a textured background and used the Fine Flourish Stamp #115709 on page 42 of the Occasions Mini Catalog.

Here is the gift and card that she made for me as my present.

I just love this paper!!  It's the DSP Pink Flamingo # 113976 in Stampin' Up's Idea Book and Catalog.

Here is the inside of the altered note pad.

We usually do a shoebox swap when we get together for birthdays.  We each do a project or a card and then we put all the supplies in a shoebox or plastic box and pass them around the table and each one of us makes the project.  This is the card that Sam made.  Now, her sample was way better than mine.  I was making 2 of everything because one of the people could not make it, but she sent her project, so I was making mine and hers, so I was a little messy.  Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!

Isn't this card nice?  It was made with one of our Stampin' Up! Stencils, Folk Flowers #118139  that we have in the Occasions Mini Catalog.  It's only $12.95 and Sam has made some awesome cards using the stencils.

Ragged Purse From Sam!!

This is the purse that Sam made for me.  Isn't it GREAT!!  It's a hipster type bag.  It goes over my shoulder and across my waist. I just love it!!  Did yall notice the scallop with my initial??  That is out of material too!!  She did a really good job on it.  She said not too look too close because she is not a sewer, and I'm not either, but I still think she did a great job.  I started one over a month ago and still have not completed it!!

My Frame

This is the frame that Lorrie, Debbie and I made about 3 weeks ago.   I kept meaning to post it and kept forgetting.  We got the idea from Gina Dygert and each of us did our own little spin of hers.  Notice Tess's purse??  She is carrying one of those rag quilt purses everyone is making.  Which by the way.. I should post mine and have had it for over a month and again just keep forgetting to post.  My very good friend Kelly made me one for Christmas and it just absolutely gorgeous!!  I'll try and take a picture to post it.

Back to the framed art.  I finally got my big alphabet, so I hope to be making more projects using it.  Currently my favorite color combos are Old Olive, Tempting turquoise and Chocolate Chip.  So, that is the color combo I used.

Now for my downline...when I find some frames or if yall find some let me know...our next meeting this is the project we will be working on.  Of course, using YOUR favorite colors!!  I hope yall like it.

Cook Book Class Postponed!!

Due to our weather here in the Hampton Roads, I postponed the cookbook class that we were to have today.  I just thought it was best not to have people driving in this weather.  It is currently snowing, but we are not getting it as bad as they are up north of us.  Some snow has stuck to the ground, but it is just a dusting.

Our class will be on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010 at 1:00pm.

I will have pictures of the cookbook and recipes at a later date.
Here is a sneak of the recipe book:

Get Well Stamp a Stack Card

I know I have been posting mainly cards lately.  I'm more a 3D person, but have been so busy with my classes that I have not had time to really "play" with my stamps.  So, I'm posting projects from my classes.  My next class is a Stamp a Stack on Feb 20, 2010.  You will make 10 cards 2 each of 5 designs for only $15.00.  I have a few spots left.  This is for local stampers only.   You have seen 3 of the cards.  The other 2 cards I will wait and show you later as I want to post pictures of my cook book class.  If you are interested in this class please email me at jnrsjones@cox.net.

Here is another card that we will be making at the Stamp a Stack.  It looks better IRL.  I still have problems with my photos and not sure if it is the camera or the photographer!!  I'm trying.  This card uses some new product that I just love!!  I used the Extra Large Two Step Bird Punch #11719  $15.95 from the Occasions Mini Catalog and the Stampin' Up! Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die  #118138 $11.95.  I have really used that butterfly die.  The butterflies are different sizes and each one is embossed differently.  Love it!!

A Card from my Stamp a Stack

This is one of my cards for my Stamp a Stack that I am  having.  We will be making a total of 10 cards and 2 of each design.  I also cased this card and it was from Renee of Stamping for Sanity. I love her cards and this one is very similar to one of her cards.  Colors are different and accessories are different, but it's still the same card.

Framed Art Class

This is the other framed art that we are making at my framed art class.  I posted the other one a few days ago.  I wanted something that they could put in the frame and leave in there if they wanted to.  I thought this kind of looked like Spring.  I cased this from Iliana Crouse.  She made a card very similar to this and I really liked it so I thought I would use it as Framed Art.
